MICHELE MIYARES HOLLANDS
Although she can’t dance salsa, and Hollands is her mother’s maiden name, she was born in Cuba, lives in Havana and is a graphic designer. In 2002, she graduated from Instituto Superior de Diseño (ISDi), Cuba’s leading design school, where she worked as a professor for several years until she grew tired of the 101 rules of editorial design. She took the risk to improvise, not as a jazz musician, but as creative director of La gaceta de Cuba, a cultural magazine published by the Union of Artists and Writers of Cuba (UNEAC).
Michele has collaborated with some of Cuba’s leading cultural institutions with a strong focus on poster design work for the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC). Her work has been exhibited and published both inside and outside Cuba.
